Monument Valley

Below are a couple of views of Monument Valley from the north side of the valley. This vantage point offers the famous view of Route 163 heading straight for the monuments in the far-off distance. The more famous views of the "mittens" that have appeared in numerous movies, is seen from the opposite side of the valley. They can also be seen from the Wildcat Trail, which is located in the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived at the park a steady rain had started, and the area became socked-in with low lying clouds. We waited for more than two hours but the rain never stopped.

Hiking Northern Arizona features 120 of the best trails in this spectacular region. Included are high alpine trails near Flagstaff, as well as desert hikes in the stunning Red Rock area of Sedona. Also included are hikes near Williams, Camp Verde, Cottonwood and Jerome. Hiking Northern Arizona offers outings that are suited to day hikers and veteran backpackers alike.
